Description

The parameters of proper modesty for males and females (dress and behaviour) are based on Revelation (the Qur'an and prophetic sayings) and, as such, are regarded by believing men and women as divinely-based guidelines with legitimate aims and divine wisdom behind them. They are not male or female-imposed, or socially imposed restrictions.

It is interesting to know that even the Bible encourages women to cover their head: 

"If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head." [1 Corinthians 11:6]

الاحتشام في العلاقات الاجتماعية

أحكام الاحتشام الشرعي لدى الرجال والنساء (سواء في اللباس والسلوك) موقوفة فلا نستمدها إلا من الوحي (القرآن الكريم والأحاديث النبوية)، فهي في عقيدة المؤمنين من الرجال والنساء هديًا سماويًا له غايات شرعية نابعة من حكمة إلهية، ولم تصدر أحكامها نزولًا على أهواء إنسان، ذكرًا كان أو أنثى، أو تعصبًا لأعراف اجتماعية ما

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن الكتاب المقدس يشجع النساء على تغطية رؤوسهن

"إِذِ الْمَرْأَةُ، إِنْ كَانَتْ لاَ تَتَغَطَّى، فَلْيُقَصَّ شَعَرُهَا. وَإِنْ كَانَ قَبِيحًا بِالْمَرْأَةِ أَنْ تُقَصَّ أَوْ تُحْلَقَ، فَلْتَتَغَطَّ." [رسالة كورنثوس الأولى الإصحاح 11 عدد 6]
