Description

Islam propagates high esteem and respect to be delivered to women, starting from the mother, who is the first woman that one comes in contact with.

A man came to Prophet Muhammed and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good behaviour?" The Prophet said: "Your mother." The man said, "Then who?" The Prophet said: "Then your mother." The man further asked, "Then who?" The Prophet said: "Then your mother." The man asked again: "Then who?" The Prophet said: "Then your father."

The mutuality and complementarities of husband and wife does not mean subservience by either one to the other. The Prophet Muhammed instructed Muslims regarding women: "I commend you to be good to women", and "The best among you are those who are best to their wives."

The Qur'an urges husbands to be kind and considerate to their wives. Allah says in the Qur'anic chapter called The Women:

"And live with them (women) in kindness; for if you dislike them, perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good." [Qur'an: Al Nisaa':19]

البر بالنساء

نادى الإسلام باحترام النساء وتقديرهن، بدءًا من الأم كونها أول النساء التي نعي عليها بعد ولادتنا، وأحقهن بهذا الاحترام

فقد جاء رجل إلى النبي محمد (ﷺ) وقال: "يا رسول الله من أحق الناس بحسن صحابتي؟" فأجاب النبي: "أمك". قال الرجل: "ثم من؟" قال النبي: "أمك". فسأله الرجل مرة أخرى: "ثم من؟" قال النبي: "أمك". فسأله الرجل مرة أخرى: "ثم من؟" قال النبي: "ثم أبوك"

لا ينطوي التكافؤ والتكامل بين الزوج والزوجة على تبعية أحدهما للآخر، فقد أوصى الرسول (ﷺ) المسلمين بالنساء قائلًا: "استوصوا بالنساء خيرًا"، و"خيركم خيركم لنسائه"

كما أوصى القرآن الكريم الأزواج بحسن معاشرة زوجاتهم، كما قال تعالى في سورة النساء: "وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰ أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا" [النساء: 19]
